Mark Kendall, the guitarist for Great White, took to social media on Saturday, November 22, to share an important message about his health with his followers.

ā€œHello, friends! Just wanted everyone to know I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer a few months ago. I wanted to wait to go public until I knew a little more about it,ā€ Kendall began via Facebook.

ā€œJust to give you an update the tumor has shrunk from 13 centimeters to 8, so I’m going in the right direction with my first scan. There isn’t a cure for cancer but what I have is manageable. I have the best doctors in the world and one of them invented Immunotherapy which is the treatment I’m on,ā€ the ā€œRock Meā€ artist continued.

ā€œI only had to do three radiation treatments, which is a good thing! To be clear, I don’t need any financial help, but I’ll take prayers & encouragement! I’m gonna fight this thing and be okay. People in my support group were diagnosed with my exact issue up to 20 years ago, so that is encouraging! Blessings, all!ā€ Kendall concluded.

It didn’t take long before Kendall’s fans began to send words of encouragement. ā€œPrayers of healing and comfort, Mark Kendall! I know you can beat this! Prayers for Bridget Kendall and your family too! God Bless!ā€ one user wrote.

ā€œSending prayers for your continued improvement and many years ahead of doing what you love with the ones you love,ā€ added another.

Great White was formed in 1977 in Los Angeles, California. The hard rock/glam metal band originally started with Kendall, Jack Russell, Lorne Black, and Gary Holland.

Audie Desbrow later joined the band in 1985, while Michael Lardie came on board in 1986. Great White went through other iterations and lineup changes over the years but these two became key members during the band’s classic era.

Great White is best known for songs like ā€œOnce Bitten, Twice Shy,ā€ ā€œRock Meā€ and ā€œSave Your Love.ā€
