When it comes to the most renowned live albums in rock history, Cheap Trick's 1978 masterpiece At Budokan is consistently listed as one of the best (if not the best). Nearly 50 years since the band recorded the now-iconic record at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, it remains their best-selling album ever...so their latest announcement involving At Budokan is a pretty big deal to fans.
In a recent Instagram post on their official account, Cheap Trick revealed that as part of their upcoming All Washed Up tour, they'll be playing two special shows in Las Vegas at The Venetian Resort on April 17 and 18 — and those dates will feature the band playing At Budokan in its entirety (plus some of their other greatest hits).

According to the post, tickets are available for purchase by the general public now. Beyond Las Vegas, the All Washed Up tour will hit 19 other cities across the country, starting with two rescheduled shows on January 24 in Madison, Wisconsin, and January 25 in Waukee, Iowa.
As Society of Rock reported, this isn't the first time Cheap Trick has played a unique set of shows in Vegas, where they previously staged a residency inspired by the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, playing the whole album live.
Last month, on Oct. 1, Cheap Trick revisited Budokan, recording the epic journey in a short film, as Blabbermouth reported.
While the band's first two albums failed to make a huge impression in the U.S., Cheap Trick was hugely popular in Japan, meaning they received an "almost Beatlemania-type reception" there, "culminating in a sold-out performance at Tokyo's huge Budokan arena."
The live album that resulted was a surprise blockbuster, as fans today know, cementing Cheap Trick's status as rock stars for life.
