Lenny Kravitz’s Blue Electric Light tour took an unexpected turn in Brisbane when one enthusiastic fan yanked several dreadlocks straight from the rocker’s head.

The 61-year-old took to his Instagram Stories after his Friday, November 21 show to recap what happened mid-performance of “Let Love Rule.”

“Brisbane, that was wild. That was wild,” Kravitz said to the camera. “So when I went out for ‘Let Love Rule,’ a very excited young lady pulled four dreadlocks out of the back of my head. You know how hard you got to pull to rip those out of my head? Damn, baby.”

Despite the shock — and the pain — Kravitz assured fans he isn’t about to hide behind security barricades anytime soon. “Anyway, I'm not gonna stop coming out there for ‘Let Love Rule,’ because that's what we do. That's our moment together,” he said, adding, “Brisbane, you're wild. I love you.”

The incident capped off a packed month of shows across Australia and New Zealand as Kravitz continues promoting his album, Blue Electric Light, released in 2024. And for longtime fans, his hands-on performance is part of what makes his shows electric.

One song that continues to energize crowds decades later is his 1993 hit “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” famous for its explosive guitar riff.

Kravitz’s longtime guitarist Craig Ross recently shared the surprising origin of that iconic solo on Chris Shiflett’s Shred with Shifty podcast. The song wasn’t the product of a long writing session — but a spontaneous jam that took shape in less than 30 minutes. Ross explained that he and Kravitz were wrapping sessions for both Kravitz’s record and one for Vanessa Paradis when inspiration struck.

While jamming — Kravitz on drums, Ross on guitar, and Tony Breit on bass — Ross “just started playing that riff.” Kravitz immediately reacted: “‘Whoa, what’s that?’” Ross shared, “I said, ‘I don’t know. I just started feeling that.’ And he felt it too.” Within minutes, they were shaping one of the most iconic rock tracks to this day.

Kravitz will wrap up his run with stops in Melbourne, Mildura, and Adelaide before taking a brief break and restarting the tour on March 14, 2026, in Mexico City.
