Prince Philip was known for his blunt remarks, but a new royal biography claims he delivered one of his most pointed ones just as Prince Harry was preparing to marry Meghan Markle.
According to Andrew Lownieâs new book Entitled, the late Duke of Edinburgh reportedly cautioned his grandson with a sharp piece of advice before tying the knot with the Suits star, per the Daily Mail. âOne steps out with actresses, one doesnât marry them,â Phillip allegedly said. The comment allegedly came shortly after Harry and Markle announced their engagement in 2017.
Despite his concerns, Philip and Queen Elizabeth II attended Harry and Markle's 2018 wedding at Windsor Castle. And in typical Philip fashion, he allegedly punctuated the day with another unfiltered comment. According to former royal butlerGrant Harrold, the Duke muttered, âThank f**k thatâs over,â as he left the chapel after the ceremony.
Despite all that, Harry has continued to honor his grandfather publicly, putting his grandfatherâs feelings about his wife and their relationship aside. On the 80th anniversary of V-J Day in August, he arranged for a wreath and handwritten note to be placed at the Burma Star Memorial in Staffordshire. Because he wasnât at the event with King Charles and Queen Camilla, Harry asked a friend to quietly lay the tribute after the royals and press had left. In his message, written on personal letterhead, Harry reflected on the âForgotten Armyâ and included a heartfelt nod to Philipâs wartime service.

Today, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Yet during an October appearance on Hasan Minhaj Doesnât Know, Harry was asked whether or not he planned to become a permanent U.S. citizen. âThere are no plans to be, at this point,â he stated simply.
It was a brief comment, but combined with his public tributes to the U.K. in a surprise essay for Remembrance Day and ongoing ties to his familyâs history, it hinted that maybe the two estranged royals will return back home.
