Following an inspection, King lost custody but will retain supervised visitation

Meghan King has lost custody of her three kids with ex-husband Jim Edmonds.

The Real Housewives of Orange County alum, 41, recently lost custody of her kids to her former husband after an investigation by Child Protective Services, according to multiple reports.

The decision to strip King of custody happened in the last few months. A school employee called Child Protective Services about King, which then led to an investigation, sources told TMZ on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

She was granted supervised visitation of their kids, while Edmonds received sole physical custody, according to Us Weekly, which was first to report. The decision is temporary and a hearing will be held to determine if the custody arrangement will become permanent.

The hearing is scheduled to take place in early December. PEOPLE has not independently confirmed the reports.

A rep for Edmonds declined to comment when reached by PEOPLE. King did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

King and Edmonds split in 2019 after five years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in May 2021. They share daughter Aspen, 8, and 7-year-old twins Hart and Hayes. Jim and wife Kortnie Edmonds — who first went public with their relationship in April 2020 and got engaged in July 2021 — married in September 2022.

In September, King's ongoing tensions with her ex-husband heated up in an altercation with Edmond's current wife, Kortnie, and the police. King and Edmonds have repeatedly had personal disputes since their 2021 divorce.

In bodycam footage from the Frontenac Police Department and obtained by Us Weekly, King could be seen telling officers that Edmonds was “emotionally abusive” during a confrontation at his Missouri home on May 1.

Kortnie, 40, called 911 after a dispute with King, claiming the former reality star had allegedly entered the couple’s residence without permission and was "causing a disturbance," according to the police report obtained by the outlet.

The report stated that officers were dispatched to the home after receiving notice that King had been “to the residence several times throughout the day and was currently on scene causing a disturbance.”

King told police she had gone to the residence to drop off clothes for her daughter, Aspen. She explained that she had contacted Jim earlier in the day to arrange the exchange and had also reached out to Kortnie.

No arrests were made and while Kortnie initially indicated to police that she planned to press charges, she later “called the police department to state she did want to press charges for harassment," the outlet reported.

In a statement to PEOPLE, a representative for Edmonds said, “As usual, Meghan is telling tales. Her and Jim barely communicate, so if someone is emotionally abusing her it’s not Jim. And she is not getting full custody; Jim is an active and present father to all his children."

"The unfortunate part of all this is that it’s the kids who suffer the most," the rep said at the time. "Jim has always been willing to co-parent in a respectful and productive way however, Meghan has yet to reciprocate. Jim has a long history of consistently making decisions and acting in a way that is best for his kids.”
