It was a big night for Lainey Wilson at the 2025 CMA Awards. Not only did she serve as the host, marking her first time taking up the role solo, but she also performed her song “Ring Finger” from her Whirlwind album. Along with that, she received the biggest award of the night — CMA Entertainer of the Year.
This marks Wilson’s second win in the prestigious category. She won in 2023. This year, the “4X4XU” singer, 33, was up against a group of male heavyweights, meaning she was the only female up for the nod. Wilson was nominated alongside Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, and Morgan Wallen.
"I'mma be honest with y'all. I was just so tickled to be here hosting this thing tonight. I just came in here wanting to celebrate country music, the love of my life, and I know the love of so many of y'all's lives," Wilson said in her acceptance speech.
She Thanked Many People Including Her Fiancé
Giving thanks to a handful of people, she also shone a light on her date for the evening and fiancé Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
"We're getting married next year, come on now!" she said. "I could not do this without my village. It takes a village. I just have the most incredible team of people who work tirelessly all the time. Thank you for loving me and supporting me, and thank you to the fans who just keep on making my dreams come true every single day. I love y'all. God bless. We're about to party at Bell Bottoms Up.”
This Is Lainey Wilson’s Second Win in the Category Overall
This isn’t Wilson’s first Entertainer of the Year triumph in 2025. In May, she won the award at the 60th annual ACM Awards. Along with CMA Entertainer of the Year, Wilson nabbed the trophy for two more awards during the star-studded affair.
Wilson Won Several Trophies at the 2025 CMA Awards
She took home the CMA Album of the Year award for Whirlwind, becoming the second female artist in CMA history to win two times in that category. Miranda Lambert has also conquered that feat. Wilson, who earned six total nods, also earned the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year trophy, edging out her competition, which included Lambert, Ella Langley, Megan Moroney, and Kelsea Ballerini. This marks Wilson’s fourth consecutive win in the category for CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, making her a tough one to beat.
Wilson spent a lot of time on stage during the night. She opened the show performing a medley of iconic country hits as part of her opening monologue, which highlighted songs like Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman,” Langley and Riley Green’s “you look like you love me,” Lambert’s “Gunpowder and Lead,” and more.
The 59th annual CMA Awards took place on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Folks who missed the live broadcast on ABC can watch the next day on Hulu.
