A Los Angeles judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by a former assistant of Vin Diesel who alleged that the Fast & Furious star sexually assaulted her more than a decade ago.

In a summary judgment Wednesday, L.A. County Superior Court Judge Daniel M. Crowley ruled that the six remaining claims in Asta Jonasson's complaint against Diesel wasn't viable in California because the alleged incident took place in Atlanta. The judge previously threw out four other claims from Jonasson, citing the statute of limitations.

"Plaintiff's causes of action impermissibly apply California law to extraterritorial conduct in the State of Georgia," Crowley wrote in his ruling. "California authorities make clear that California law cannot be applied to any of plaintiff’s claims."

Jonasson's attorney Matthew T. Hale said in a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly, "The Court did not decide anything about the truth of Ms. Jonasson's allegations. The ruling was based on a legal technicality, with which we respectfully disagree. Ms. Jonasson intends to appeal."

Bryan J. Freedman, an attorney for Diesel, said in a statement, "We are grateful that the court put an end to this meritless lawsuit. We are pleased that this matter has been resolved entirely."

Filed in December 2023, Jonasson's lawsuit alleged that he groped and forcibly kissed her and masturbated in front of her in a room at Atlanta's St. Regis hotel in September 2010.

Jonasson said she was working as the actor's assistant during filming of Fast Five, when the actor's security team told her to take Diesel to another location. When he didn't answer his phone, she went to his room, where she alleged that an assault took place.

Jonasson alleged that Diesel "entrapped" her by grabbing her wrists, then groping her, and attempting to remove her underwear. She claimed that he pinned her against a wall as he masturbated, despite her pleading with him to stop.

She accused the actor's production company, One Race Productions, of wrongful termination, retaliation, and negligent supervision. Hours after the alleged assault, she claimed, she was terminated and told by the company that her services were no longer needed.
