Sheinelle Jones brought her daughter, Clara, 13, to London to interview the Wicked cast

The Today host shared some behind-the-scenes snaps from the interview with stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande

During the segment, Jones said Wicked: For Good was "transcendent" for her grief

Sheinelle Jones spoke about her grief journey with Wicked: For Good stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in London, and she brought her daughter, Clara, with her for the trip.

Jones, 47, shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse at her interview with the Oscar nominees in an Instagram post on Sunday, Nov. 9, for a Today show segment that aired on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

"I couldn’t think of two better ladies to connect with, and jump back into doing sit-down interviews again 🥹," the Today co-host began the caption.

"I promise we did more than hug! Haha ✨ I love @arianagrande and @cynthiaerivo , and you are going to LOVE the second act of @wickedmovie . It’s just … beyond. So so good! (And Clara got to see her mom stay up late the night before - preparing, before our beautiful conversation.) I can’t wait for you to hear it next week on @todayshow 💗💚 📸 @joel.lawrence.acs," Jones continued.

In the photos, Jones, who wore an on-theme green blazer, embraced Grande, 32, and Erivo, 38, before sitting down on set for the interview. In another photo, Clara, 13, poses with her mom and the Wicked stars.

The interview marked one of Jones' first sit-down interviews since she returned to work following the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh. Ojeh died in May, after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. He was 45.

In the interview, Jones — who also shares Clara's twin brother, Uche, and 16-year-old son Kayin with Ojeh — opened up about how she relates her personal grief journey to the upcoming film Wicked: For Good.

"You guys both know that I am grieving, right?" Jones told Erivo, 38, and Grande, 32. “And I carry two things everywhere I go. I move forward, but I’m also grieving."

“When I went in the theater to see this movie, it was transcendent for me in a way that I didn’t know I needed," Jones told the stars. "To see these characters be strong and brave and vulnerable. And I’m sitting there thinking, ‘Okay, if these women can do this on the screen, so can I in my own way.’ I can be strong and courageous and brave and not just your characters, but who you are as women in real life."

Grande was visibly touched by the comment, saying, "Well, we thank you. We love you. And you are all of those things." Erivo agreed, adding, "Thank you for that. We do, we love you very much."

Both actresses then rose to hug Jones.

Wicked: For Good hits theaters on Nov. 21.
