*The View *cohosts have reacted to a milestone development in the ongoing political fight for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

One day after the Senate and House advanced a bill to Donald Trump's desk that, if signed by the president, would mandate that the Department of Justice publicly release its documents related to Epstein, a convicted sex offender who died by suicide in 2019, the Hot Topics table buzzed with predictions for what might happen in the aftermath.

Sara Haines praised a political moment where we're seeing "Republicans stand up to Donald Trump" on this issue, after the president has long maintained that he had no illicit involvement with Epstein correspondence referencing him — as evidenced by prior emails released by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee.

"This might be the thing that breaks him, because we're seeing Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was a day-one MAGA loyalist, say, when she speaks in public, she's not only breaking with him and taking all the ire, she's saying, *it makes you wonder,*" Haines observed. "She's now actually pondering, *what have we done here?*"

Haines reflected on Rep. Greene's recent shift in tone and temper, including an appearance on *The View* in which she called for cross-party unity to end the government shutdown.

"She's given cover to these people who have found their 'moral compass' because now they realize Donald Trump isn't their boss — the voters always were. He's got nothing to gain," Haines continued, referencing the fact that all but one lawmaker voted to advance the bill.

"If child sex trafficking can't be a bipartisan issue, what even can, today? I think this was an example — and it's powerful to see — the American public was ahead of where Congress was, and forced them to do the right thing," added Alyssa Farah Griffin, conservative commentator and former Trump White House staffer. "Congress couldn't ignore it any longer."

Griffin speculated that, despite opposing views projecting that Trump or his associates might find a way to tamper with the files before their public release, she's optimistic that he'll approve their release.

"I'm very bullish we will. When the public is so clearly demanding that they want to see it, there are a lot of avenues there," she said. "I think it'll be met with public outcry if it's clear that Department of Justice is not complying with the subpoena and the discharge position."

She finished her thought by celebrating that we will "see some justice for the victims," and that she's "talked to a lot of Trump voters who feel very betrayed by Donald Trump on" resisting the files' release.

Legal expert and former federal prosecutor Sunny Hostin called the Trump administration a "monarchy" and a "corrupt presidency" before casting doubt on just how much of the files we'll see if they're publicly released.

"I just can't imagine that a man that was mentioned over 1,000 times in these Epstein estate files would allow this to be released unredacted," she claimed. "I just don't buy it. I'm sorry."

Trump and the White House have long denied involvement in Epstein's illicit dealings, and, in an exclusive statement to ** last week, said that "liberal outlets are desperately trying to use this Democrat distraction to talk about anything other than Democrats getting utterly defeated by President Trump in the shutdown fight," per spokesperson Abigail Jackson.**
