*The Beast in Me* is a new Netflix thriller starring a pair of TV heavyweights in Claire Danes (*Homeland*) and Matthew Rhys (*The Americans*).

The eight-episode series, now streaming on Netflix, centers on Danes' atrociously-named Aggie Wiggs, a writer in search of a new subject. When Rhys' Nile Jarvis moves in next door, his dark past provides ample grist for the mill. The "cat-and-mouse thriller" only gets more unnerving from there.

Red Bank, N.J.

Several key scenes in *The Beast in Me* were shot in Red Bank, a borough in scenic Monmouth County, N.J. that's tucked alongside the Navesink River.

West Front Street, where several local businesses reside, was one filming location. Several well-known businesses received makeovers, per New Jersey 101.5. JR's Restaurant, for example, was turned into "Roberto's Pizzeria." Above, you can see a clip of Danes filming a scene in which her character shatters its front window.

Monmouth County has proven a popular filming location in recent years, with Apple TV hit *Severance* and Kevin Smith's *The 4:30 Movie* recently shooting there.

You can expect to see more Netflix productions shooting in Monmouth County in the future, as the streamer is planning to build a studio campus in the area, per the *Asbury Park Press*.

The Molly Pitcher Inn

Red Bank's Molly Pitcher Inn and its sister hotel, Oyster Point, also served as filming locations, per the *Asbury Park Press*. Scenes were shot in the dining room, ballroom, bar, and promenade wing.

The hotels can also be seen in 2023's *Miranda's Victim* and 2024's *Mean Girls*.

West Orange, N.J.

In the show, Aggie lives in Oyster Bay, an idyllic New York town near the Long Island Sound. That's not where the series was filmed, however.

According to Atlas of Wonders, Aggie's sprawling home is a 4,700-square-foot, five-bedroom home in the affluent community of West Orange, N.J., which is a roughly 90-minute drive from the real Oyster Bay.

West Orange is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from both Newark, N.J., and New York City.**

Newark and Jersey City, N.J.

Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J., is known for its cherry blossom trees.

Many scenes in *The Beast in Me* were shot in and around Newark and Jersey City in Essex and Hudson counties, according to NJ.com.

Newark filming locations included Independence Park, Unique Design Menswear, and the National Newark Building. Locals may also note Branch Brook Park, which is home to more than 5,000 Japanese cherry blossom trees.**

Those familiar with Jersey City may recognize the Mana Contemporary cultural center, Bibb’s Auto Recycling, and the Harborside 5 building on Hudson Street.**
